New Years Resolutions are here!

Does yours include losing a few pounds?

The Mamas at MRL have a great solution for your New Year’s Resolution!

Why not try eating healthy 365 days a year? This yields so many health benefits and from our experience, permanent weight loss! Start with reading labels! Look at the sugar content. Sugar is a major culprit in weight gain.

A recent poll finds that many consider high consumption sugar worse than if you were using certain drugs! Americans are becoming ill with what is referred to as “lifestyle diseases” as high consumption of sugar along with other poor eating habits effect many areas of health: heart disease, obesity and diabetes to name a few!

In regards to body composition, a woman should only consume 6 teaspoons (~25g) of sugar a day and a man 9 teaspoons (~35g). The shot glass of sugar pictured here is the maximum sugar an adult should have in one day. But if you are not reading lables you could cosume this in your breakfast (eating a cup of yogurt or glass of juice!). To keep it simple, if you want to lose a few pounds this year, cut back on sugar!

Next start looking at the other ingredients! We avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup and MSG at all times. Remember, you don’t have to know what every ingredient is… but the long list of ingredients is a good place to start, meaning--- to start making a different choice. An easy way to make better choices is choose items with a shorter ingredients list! Look at our "Labels" tab for information on reading labels.

Keep it simple….avoid sugar, the products with a long list of ingredients and you will avoid harmful chemicals and preservatives too.

Check out our recipes tab for healthy meals, snacks and sides!

Hope you have a healthy 2015!!
