Broiled Tofu is the Perfect “Meat Substitute” for salads or a side! It provides 8 grams of protein a serving, no sugar and minimal carbs (2g!). You can buy it organic, or NON-GMO. It is gluten-free and dairy-free! Ready in 30 minutes Mamas!

I love our MRL baked tofu recipe, but with my two little ones I just could not find the time on a regular basis to get it going in the marinade for two hours prior to baking (another 45 minutes)! So I thought I would give BROILING a try! And guess what busy Mamas?! It is just as good!
I do not think broiled tofu loses the flavor and it is a perfect protein to have made up in the fridge for the week either to take as a side or top your salads with. I love this tofu even more because my 1 year old (who has food allergies) LOVES it! She just shovels it in, hot or cold! Prior to broiling I use soy sauce or Braggs Liquid Amino’s, distilled rice vinegar and a clove or two of minced garlic! Then I use nuts on top to add an extra crunch (sunflower seedsvor cashews turn out well).
I recommend buying the extra firm kind. I have bought all firmness textures but prefer the extra firm. I have a hard time finding any organic or grass fed meats where I live (pretty much the North Pole!) so I make a batch of this up every week! It may sound gross to you, but I like to have a few pieces as a snack, yes cold!
One more thing Mamas, its $1.99 per package! Yes! $4 a week for a great source of organic or non-gmo protein ...(and it tastes good!)
Recipe:
2 containers of Tofu (organic or non-gmo)
1/2 cup of Soy Sauce (I use Braggs Liquid Aminos)
1/4 cup of Distilled Rice Vinegar
1-2 Cloves of Minced Garlic
Top with nuts (Sunflower seeds or cashews)
Open the Tofu packages and drain the water. Place in baking dish (no need to grease)
Cut tofu right inside the dish as displayed below:
Two packages of opened and drained tofu are displayed below.
Cut in half lengthwise and then slice columns as the block on the left shows

Do the same with the second block and then cut all into cubes.

Follow with the rice vinegar, liquid aminos, nuts and garlic.

Broil for 10-15 minutes (make sure to move the oven rack up) stir and finish broiling for another 10-15 minutes. Basically you want most of the liquid to broil off, as this occurs the edges will become crispy (and delicious!).
Enjoy!!!
