Ditch the chore list, try this instead!

I don't know about you, but household chores and tasks are the most tedious part of my week. In the past, things would build up and build up until I spent an entire weekend cleaning. I imagine this can be especially true for those of you that work outside the home!
That's why shortly after the birth of my first child, I came up with this cheap and easy method to complete all my tasks in a much more time efficient way!
All you need is a dry erase board. Or you could use a chalkboard, poster board, piece of paper taped to your fridge, really whatever works for you! I had a dry erase board, glued magnets to it and stuck it on my fridge so I can see it at all times.
This little board is invaluable for my family, it tells everyone what we are eating that week, and I can easily check what I need to do that day. And don't forget to leave one day completely chore free! Here is my board:

As you can see, you can tailor this to fit your household! Basically I spend a short amount of time, each day except Saturday, doing something around the house that needs to be done each week. I love that I can hurry and get it done and enjoy my day, as well as easily keep up on housework.
Another beneficial dry erase board, that also lives on our fridge, is our to-do board. My husband and I share this, and when we see something we, or the other person needs to do, we can just write it down instead of nagging each other!
Let me explain the different sections, but first, here is the board (and no, I was not the one that added "dog" after our name initials! haha):

So the upper two boxes are our "to-do" lists, the long standing things we each can do around the house or yard whenever we have spare time. (Clearly I need to dig up some more chores for his list!!)
In the bottom left, we have made a list of big ticket items that we need, and have rated them by importance. That way, when the money gets saved up in our banking account, we can look at this list and choose which big purchase will be next.
And lastly, the lower right corner is for my grocery list. Anything we run out of during the week goes up on this section so I don't forget to pick it up the next time I go grocery shopping. I can't tell you how many times I would run out of an herb or spice and forget to pick up a new one. And then would be so mad when I would be in the middle of making a recipe and realize I was completely out!
Between these two dry erase boards we are able to keep on top of things around the house pretty easily. It's an inexpensive way to stay organized--and I love organization!! Hopefully you will find this method makes your household upkeep easier, and allows for more free time to do more enjoyable things! ~Briana
