Tofu was one of those mysterious food items that I had no experience with, but was always curious to try. While in search of a new side dish for meals, I came across this recipe on mediterrasian.com. Wow! This recipe is delicious and so versatile--it's perfect as a side dish, but also tastes great as the "protein" on a salad.
My son initially turned his nose up at this, but after finally trying it he asked for seconds, then thirds!
Ingredients needed:
4 Tbsp. Soy sauce (make sure it's msg free, and I like low sodium)
2 Tbsp. Oyster Sauce (again, no msg)
2 Tbsp. Water
2 tsp. Sesame Oil (mine is organic)
2 tsp. finely grated fresh ginger (it tastes fine with ground ginger if you don't have fresh on hand!)
2 cloves garlic, minced (I just love the stuff in the tube)
1/2 tsp. 5 spice powder (Allspice works great too!)
20 oz. Extra-firm organic/gmo-free tofu, CUBED and DRAINED

*Mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, water, sesame oil, ginger, garlic and 5 spice/Allspice in a bowl.

*Cube your drained tofu and place in a bowl. Pour the liquid mix over top.

*Marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
*Then drain and place on baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes, turning halfway through.

When they're done, they are crispy and delicious! If you haven't already, give tofu a try! ~Briana
